The Masterserve Foundation exists to raise charitable donations from members of the Masterserve Network and Holman will distribute these donations to regional charities related to Social Aid and Development, and Healthcare.

The Masterserve Foundation committee is thrilled and excited to announce the recipients of the third quarter awards totalling a staggering £17138.32 and after careful deliberation it was decided that the awards would be made to the following charities with £2500.00 being carried over to quarter four.

Stepping Stones - £771.22

About the Charity

Their aim is to provide a support and information service for the parents and carers of children with special needs wherein children and their families can develop confidence in themselves and others, and to provide a centre for children with special needs where visiting professionals liaise with staff and parents, to support the family and to offer therapy, support and advice in order to develop a child’s full potential.

The Nomination

This nomination was received from Anita Dunn who works in the accounts team at Holman, she has a friend whose child receives support from "Stepping Stones", and Anita said, "This school gives special help to young children who cannot attend main stream school. I have a friend who has a son who attends and without the help of the school I know Lewis would not have been able to do half the things he does".

Wessex Heartbeat - £771.22

About the Charity

Wessex Heartbeat run Heartbeat House which is a quiet refuge for relatives when someone they love is undergoing treatment in the Cardiac Centre at Southampton Hospital. Only 3 minutes' walk from the wards guests can stay as long as their loved one is in hospital. The reassurance relatives get from being able to stay in Heartbeat House cannot be measured.

The Nomination

This nomination was received form Jo Rees, a Holman employee, following the illness suffered by her Father in Law. "Sadly my father in-law was taken seriously ill in January 2016 and had to be rushed to Southampton Hospital for an emergency heart operation, he then spent a further 6 weeks in Southampton Hospital, 2 and half of those in the Cardiac Critical Care Unit. Thankfully my mother in law was able to get a room at Heartbeat for the duration of his stay in hospital".

Rotherham Cancer Care Centre - £5691.03

About the Charity

Rotherham Cancer Care Centre provides free care and support to Rotherham people who have had a diagnosis of cancer and also to their main carer. We provide complementary therapies and/or counselling but most of all we help people to cope and improve the quality of their life. Our highly trained and experienced staff understand the effects of cancer on people's lives and we are used to working with people at all stages of illness.

The Nomination

This nomination was received from our Masterserve garage, Walker Cutting, based in Rotherham. They said, "This is a small charity that is receiving 45 referrals a week from doctors, with no support what so ever, this charity need all the help it can get, please help me so we can help Rotherham Cancer Care".

St Michael's Hospice - £3794.02

About the Charity

St Michael's Hospice team works together to help patients and their families adjust to the inevitable changes that life-limiting illnesses bring. This means that our doctors and nurses help to relieve symptoms and control pain and physiotherapists and occupational therapists work with patients and carers, to find techniques to help them continue living independently

The Nomination

This nomination was raised by Promotive, a Masterserve garage located in Newport, South Wales. The cheque was accepted on behalf of the Hospice by Stephen Rabbitts who said that the money would be spent on some much needed outside furniture. Promotive, who have close ties with the charity were pleased that the Masterserve Foundation was able to help out with a generous donation.

Hastings & Rother Voluntary Association for the Blind - £1897.00

About the Charity

Hastings & Rother Voluntary Association for the Blind is a local registered charity for the sight impaired. We are an independent charity, committed to providing access to services, support and encouragement and information to those with visual difficulties. We also seek to serve the needs of their carers and families. Our Society is run by a dedicated and hard working committee, team of staff and volunteers.

The Nomination

Ridge West Garage based in St Leonards-on-Sea, nominated HRVAB as they have maintained their vehicles for a long period of time, and developed a close working relationship with them over a period of a few years. The money will go towards building a new summer house and repairing garden pathways, to make life easier for clients to get out and about when attending the day centre.

National Charity
Each year the Masterserve Foundation will support a national charity. This year it is the British Heart Foundation. A long term customer of Holman who by default, also has a long association with the Masterserve garage network. They will receive an annual award which will accrue each quarter and be awarded in October 2016.
